In the article the Native Americans weren't mentioned. This leads me to believe this artle was written by a settlers point of view because to the settlers the Native Americans were not important and that's why they weren't mentioned in the article. In "The Way to Rainy Mountain", the perspective is by a Native American because it describes the feelings of the thoughts of the Native Americans at this time while the article didn't mention the Native Americans at all. I've concluded that "The Way to Rainy Mountain" paints a more accurate view of the time period.

ReplyDeleteIn this short history passage President Jefferson bought the land of
Louisiana. This streched America out to the Mississippi river and the Rocky Mountians and from Canada to the New Orleans. The point of view that this very imformational piece of history was written in third point of view. In this artical it is talking about how big the land that they were retrieving but in the story "The Way to Rainy Mountian" was describing how the land looked and nt the size. In my opinion, the passage "The Way to Rainy Mountian" showed more of the era because it was more detailed about all of the surroundings
The article i read described the Indian Wars and Westward Expansion. It can relate to "The Way to Rainy Mountain". They both describe the Native American's feelings and thoughts. The article also describes more about the minor sequences during the time also. If i had to choose which story i need for very descriptive facts, I'd choose the article.

As I read the article that I found, it didn't really say anything about the native americans. I believe it does not mention them because to the people of that period they weren't important to write or talk about. The perspective of which it's written is third person limited because it doesn't have the narrator in it or tell what anyone is thinking. However, in "The Way to Rainy Mountain" it is first person. I believe the article I read tells more about that time period because of the abundance of information in it.

ReplyDeleteThe article is about Thomas Jefferson purchasing the land from the french government. It did not mention the Native Americans or settelers. Thomas Jefferson states that he believed that westward expansion is the key to America's health. The article in written in thid person point of view. In my opinion i believe that "The Way to Rainy Mountain" gives a better image of what the time period was like because it goes in great detail about the Native American life style and what the land was like.
